Gabriella Wyke is an artist who was born and raised in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago where her passion for art was first discovered and developed. Only later in her teenage years was she introduced to photography when she and her family were posted by their military to Toronto, Canada in 2010. There, she took her first photography class and learned a variety of photographic processes that were both film and digital based.
In 2017, Wyke moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue a photography degree at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she later graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Photography. Now she owns her own business, Gifts from Gab Studios Ltd. where she works as a freelance photographer and digital designer.
While photography has become a profession for Gabriella, she is also a practicing artist which in her words, means that she is, "Actively learning to create and share stories." Some of her photo-based work has been recognized globally by the likes of Fujifilm for The Letter where she was selected as a Student of Storytelling in 2020.
In 2022 she was selected as 1 out of 100 photographers globally to attend the Eddie Adams Workshop in New York while the Boynes Emerging Artist Award honored her as their 6th edition, first place winner for photo, Fill The Streets during that same year. As such, she has just completed her first artist residency with Nocefresca in Sardinia, Italy in June 2023.
Currently, Wyke resides in Trinidad where she is continuing to developing her business, practice her craft and encourage others to pursue their purpose. As she told Boynes Award director Chantal Boynes in a recent interview," If you know without a shadow of a doubt that art is what you were placed on this earth to do, then do it without fear."
